Byzantine Chant Elements in Augustin Bena's 4th Liturgy

Bena's major work based on inspiration drawn from Byzantine chant as practised in the Romanian Orthodox Church of Transylvania constitues the subject area of the present paper. It was due to this work that Augustin Bena, otherwise well-known for his teaching, conducting, and composing activities, earned his reputation as an outstanding promoter and composer of church music in the established tradition of Byzantine chant.
