Orality Aspects in Dimitrie Cunţan's Book of Church Singing

This is a continuation of an earlier work on Transylvanian church singing by focussing on specific elements of orality, especially as presented in Dimitrie Cunşan's book published for the first time in 1890. The investigations presented in this paper are based on meticulous comparisons between Cunţan's renderings and such that were given in uniformized collections of church chants published within a short span of time after the publication of Cunţan's book.
