Nectarie Frimu
A brief overview of the life and work of skemonk Nectarie, whose important contribution to the advancement of Byzantine chant was acknowledged as such both in his native country, Moldavia, and at Mount Athos, where skemonk Nectarie Frimu, acclaimed by the Greek heremits as the "second Koukouzeles" or "the nightingale of Mount Athos", ended his days. Special attention is given to Nectarie Frimu's issue of an Anthology of Chant Masterpieces, which was printed at Neamū Monastery and his two volumes of Religious Chants (vespers and matins), work that he completed before he was nominated bishop of Tripoleos.
