Musical Ms. No. I-4 from "Octavian Goga" County Library in Cluj-Napoca
Ms. No. I-4 is an Anthologion comprising a collection of chants in the Byzantine tradition dating back to the 19th century. The text is written in Romanian using predominantly the Cyrillic alphabet but occasionally the Latin alphabet also. Most of the chants are axions, whereby some of them come from the hand of hieromonk Macarie. This ms. is proof to the normally accepted assertion that the work of Macarie was also widespread in Transsylvania, a province witnessing a continuity of spiritual links to the other Romanian principalities, and the same musical culture in the Byzantine tradition.
