A Composer of Byzantine Chant at the Beginning of the 18th Century - Clement Grădişteanu of Hurez Monastery

A cousin and contemporary of Filotei sin Agăi Jipei Clement Grădişteanu exemplifies a line of Romanian clergy with an ancestry active in both statesmanship and the religious/cultural life of their time. A very solid genealogy, well documented before and after him, and extending over several centuries, as well as the authorship of several important church books, among which one was identified by prof. Statis under No. 158 in the library of Xenophont Monastery at Mount Athos identify Clement Grădişteanu as an outstanding contributor to the growth of Byzantine chant of his time.
