Onufrie Bratu from Cheia Monastery, Teleajen - a Copyist of Byzantine Chant

For five years an apprentice of skemonk Nectarie at Mount Athos, Onufrie Bratu had the chance to witness and work with the greatest living Romanian protopsalt of his time. Of his work six manuscripts have been preserved, particularly in the Dumitru Staniloaie Library of the Iasi Archbishopric in that of the Prodromu Monastery at Mount Athos, and at Suzana-Prahova Monastery. These manuscripts are described in this paper.
