The Theoretical and Practical Groundworks or Melodic Grammar
This paper constitutes an important part of a comprehensive analysis of Anton Pann's Theoretical and Practical Groundworks made by the author and including for the first time the transliteration of the whole musical content of Anton Pann's work. The author gives the names of the musicians that where engaged in the study of the relevant publications and presents detailed documentary sources used by the musician for the work, its structuring, contents, and expository method used. A useful comparison is also made between the three editions of the treatise on music theory printed by Anton Pann in 1845, 1847 and 1854, respectively, the last one later becoming the classical model for church music theory based on the Chrysanthic notation for all Romanians.
